Crafting connections: Honey Willow's milestone experience at the Sydney Artisans Winter Makers Market

Crafting connections: Honey Willow's milestone experience at the Sydney Artisans Winter Makers Market

June 22-23 marked a milestone for Honey Willow as we participated in Marrickville's Winter Makers Market, hosted by the talented team at Sydney Artisans, Celina, and Nalita. Held at the charming Sydney Portugal Community Club, this event was my first two-day market, a significant leap from my regular appearances at the local Panania Markets once a month. Panania Markets have been the bedrock of Honey Willow's journey, playing a pivotal role in our early days and ongoing development, instilling the confidence to seize opportunities like this two-day market experience!

Meeting fellow artisans

Creative atmosphere

From the outset, I knew this opportunity at the Marrickville Winter Makers Market would be transformative for our small business, offering new avenues for growth and invaluable lessons along the way. I was equally daunted and excited to take part in this market, knowing it would not only be a personal milestone but also a crucial step forward for Honey Willow. Behind every small business is a support system, and for me, it's my family and friends who have been there from the beginning. I'm incredibly fortunate to have two lifelong friends, Rachel and Christine, supporting my business journey. They play integral roles behind the scenes and are always by my side at markets. I couldn't do it without them.

Sharing techniques and stories

Meeting fellow artisans at Marrickville was a delightful experience. The market buzzed with creativity, each booth showcasing unique stories through handmade crafts. Engaging in conversations and sharing techniques with other artisans was incredibly inspiring. We had the opportunity to feature our handcrafted refillable eco-resin candle vessels and the refill options. Additionally, we were excited to unveil our latest additions: the Luminous Trio Candle Gift Sets featuring three copper tin candles, and the Elegance & Light Gift Sets including a medium-sized glass candle, diffuser, and a jar of matches.

Engaging with candle enthusiasts

Engaging with candle enthusiasts was equally rewarding. They were eager to learn about our eco-friendly and reusable candle approach, appreciating the craftsmanship and attention to sustainability. The market buzzed with energy, drawing in visitors eager to explore unique crafts and support local businesses like ours. It was about sharing the story behind Honey Willow, connecting with our audience, and learning from like-minded individuals. The atmosphere was electric, filled with vibrant personalities and inspiring conversations.

Reflecting on the experience

Surrounded by such talent, I couldn't help but feel inspired. Every artisan brought something special to the table, each with their own story to tell through their craft. It was a privilege to be among them, contributing our own piece to Marrickville's thriving artisanal scene.

As I reflect on this memorable weekend, I'm filled with gratitude—for the support of our customers, the camaraderie of fellow artisans, and the opportunity to showcase what Honey Willow stands for: creativity, sustainability, and reusability.

Thank you to Sydney Artisans for organising this event, and to everyone who visited our stall. Your enthusiasm fuels our passion, and we look forward to bringing you more of what you love.
